A+ for Rod Building 101

I had been preparing for my first rod build for some time…reading instructional manuals and watching online instructional videos. I came across this in-person class opportunity on the Mudhole website. It seemed that expert instruction and backup the first time through would certainly be of great value…and this was truly the case. The instructors were knowledgeable, patient, helpful, and just plain pleasant. They have a great sense about when to let us students struggle a bit and work our way through the process, and when to step in with some advice and assistance. They are experienced, skilled rod builders and teach an effective, logical workflow that provides a solid foundation on which to advance our knowledge and skills. The class was a really helpful launch point for, what I expect to be, an enjoyable rod-building future…and my first rod building effort turned out decent in appearance and very fishable! :) Highly recommended!

Beginner's rod building class, Minneapolis, MN, Feb. 22 & 23

My first experience with a rod building class and everything went very well. The classroom facility was apropriate. The products and tools were good. The instructors were very friendly, knowledgeable, patient and eager to teach. And I got to take home a really nice, brand new fishing rod that I built myself and the tools to build more. Anyone who wants to learn how to build a fishing rod well should take at least one of these classes.

Excellent class

I was hesitant to take this class online, but I couldn't be happier with how everything went. The instructor, Jesus, was awesome! I highly recommend taking this class if you're interested in building your own rods. I plan to take the advanced rod building class very soon.

Great class

This was an absolutely fantastic class. Instructors were great and I learned a lot. My only complaint and suggestion would be that they offered more rod colors for the students than just black. I’m a person who loves color, and really would have liked another rod color option.

Had a blast in Charlotte!

My experience with the rod building course exceeded all expectations. The instructors were helpful and friendly, and I'm over-the-moon about the rod I built. Big shout outs to Cindy and Jesus! 10/10 will do again.
